Objective: The variation of intervertebral disk angle of lower lumbar vertebra is thought to be a reason of Herniation of Intervertebral Disc(IVD). The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between variation of intervertebral disk angle of lower lumbar vertebra and herniation of intervertebral disc.
Methods: The study population consisted of 57 patients who were diagnosed as HIVD by lumbar CT and evaluated with X-ray findings of L-spine lateral views. We divided patients none HIVD group(A) and HIVD group(B) by CT scan and measured lower lumbar intervertebral disk angle by L-spine lateral view.
Results: According to the distribution of IVD angle by lumbar level, in the L4-5 level, A group¡¯s average value of IVD angle is 8.37¡¾4.03¡Æand B group is 9.20¡¾3.76¡Æ. In the L5-S1 level, A group¡¯s average value of IVD angle is 9.32¡¾4.16¡Æ and B group is 9.30¡¾4.85¡Æ.
Conclusions: Between variation of IVD angle of lower lumbar vertebra and herniation of intervertebral disc, there is no significant relationship.
